BAYT AL-FATWA

 

In 2022 I was appointed by Egypt’s then Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki ‘Allam as a member General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide and its representative in the United States. In early 2025, I formed and registered a US-based non-for-profit called “Bayt al-Fatwa” to provide three essential services to American Muslims:

1.     Answering questions related to Islamic practice and belief as experienced in the United States through the issuing of fatwas (non-binding legal opinions).

2.     Legal services for Muslims including, but not limited to, arbitration, marriage/divorce, contract review, prenups, etc. This allows us to reduce stress on our local courts and gives us the opportunity to practice our faith and hold to our traditions and principles.

3.     The creation of a three-year fatwa training program for men and women interested in pursuing this field of study. The program consists of two years academic training and a one-year, in-house apprenticeship in one of the fatwa offices around the world where we have connections.

 

This new organization is just coming into being so a website is being created where the above will be fleshed out more, inshaAllah.
